About

I am a Professional Certified Coach and I have been working as an executive coach since 2010.

kate

I have worked with managers and leaders from across the public sector for more than ten years. I am passionate about making a difference to managers and leaders in the public sector. I believe that everyone has the potential to be an effective leader, and that coaching is one of the most effective ways for leaders to engage in their own learning.

I specialise in working with coaching clients to explore their authentic leadership styles, and finding ways to develop themselves as more effective leaders. This may address areas such as building high-performance teams, managing and delegating to staff, managing upwards, understanding different behavioural and thinking preferences and how they impact on performance, developing effective communication strategies and styles, public speaking and executive presence.

I also coach many clients who are looking for or experiencing a change in career. Coaching can assist people who have recently been promoted to learn how to best address the challenges of stepping up into a new level of management, be that a new manager or senior executive.

Client organisations

My clients include over 30 government departments and agencies, including the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Environment, Infrastructure, Finance, Treasury, Defence, Agriculture, Health, Employment, Education, and Human Services; and Government agencies including IP Australia, Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, National Museum of Australia, ACCC, Murray Darling Basin Authority, the AFP, Australian Fisheries Management Authority, Safe Work Australia, and Australian Public Service Commission.

Work with these clients has included change management, leadership development, coaching programs, mentoring, management skills, strategic planning, individual and group coaching.

Qualifications, certifications and experience

I have coached more than 850 clients from over 30 public sector departments and agencies including many staff posted overseas. These clients have ranged from APS5 through to Senior Executives and heads of statutory agencies.

Prior to commencing a career as an executive coach, I was a senior executive in the public sector, with twenty years’ experience across many public sector roles, spanning service delivery, policy and central agency roles. In my last four years in the public sector, I was the Chief Finance Officer for the ACT Chief Minister’s Department.

Because I passionately believe in the coaching profession, I have supported the International Coach Federation, one of our peak professional bodies. I have held the positions of President of the ACT Branch of the ICF and Director, Professional Development ICF Australasia Board.

I am a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF), and I hold a Level 3 accreditation, Institute of Executive coaching.  I am a trained coach supervisor, and qualified to provide coach mentoring with the ICF. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Ontological Coaching with the Newfield Institute.
